Despite daily articles on 'investigations' in the mass media, we doubt there is a possibility of such investigations leading to real justice. Rather, there is only thick smoke and mirrors. Today, we see the creation of various institutions to camouflage the lack of justice in Turkey. There will be an ethical commission, an independent prosecutors' office and a reconciliation commission. This last is aimed at trying to convince people that all that went on was a sort of brawl between friends and that the first thing needed to overcome the trauma and move on together is an 'act of forgiveness'.
The process to strengthen the police forces is not far behind. We can be sure that the justice 'institutions' will be there for the politicians should they get out of line.
